"Seriously".. no i dont take myself that seriously- i like to think of myself as a quirky, kind of nerdy, and silly person, who likes the importance of laughing at oneself and with others, while my serious side can sometimes be heavy but calm and quiet. I enjoy smushing my ideas, playfulness, and personality around to create my bodies of work.
Amberlee Rosolowich was born in Canada in, and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii as one of seven children in a predominantly Hawaiian-Japanese blended family. Being from the Ukrainian part of the family, fitting in was never an easy step in the given surroundings. After the death of her fathers second wife, drawing and painting became an avenue for her to quietly express her emotions at lifes complicated situations, while wanting to just be a silly light person. Painting is her way to observe the worlds odd balance of happiness and struggle. The fanciful Wayne Thiebaud, the quiet intensity of Raimonds Staprans, the childhood playfulness of Eric White, and the progressive and thoughtfulness of Kevin Moore have all been tremendous influences on Amberlees work.
